Connecticut Tech Ed Teacher Craig Clark Running for ITEA President

In the near future, ITEA will be sending all Connecticut members their annual election ballot. This year Weaver High School technology education teacher Craig Clark is one of two candidates for President of ITEA.
Craig has served numerous positions within CTEA and has been a long time supporter and active participant in the CTEA, CTELC Leadership, TSA, NEATT and ITEA. I encourage all Connecticut ITEA members to cast your vote for Craig.

A GREAT Way for a Connecticut Students to Become a Technology Education Teacher or Engineer
The College of Technology is a specialized curriculum that allows a student to begin technology or engineering technology studies at any of the state's 12 Community Colleges with the ultimate goal of achieving a 4-year, baccalaureate degree in Engineering or Technology at the University of Connecticut, Fairfield University, Central Connecticut State University, the University of Hartford, University of New Haven, or Charter Oak State College.
Along the way, a student has the opportunity to earn a two-year associate degree, gain marketable skills, and explore interesting careers in fields projected to enjoy employment growth in the coming years. The program, as a whole, allows students to continue their studies at the participating colleges and universities as juniors without any loss of credit.
The Community Colleges' College of Technology program offers the student affordable tuition significantly reducing the cost of higher education.

What's a Blog
A blog is whatever you want it to be. There are millions of them, in all shapes and sizes, and there are no real rules.
In simple terms, a blog is a web site, where you write stuff on an ongoing basis. New stuff shows up at the top, so your visitors can read what's new. Then they comment on it or link to it or email you. Or not.
Since Blogger was launched in 1999, blogs have reshaped the web, impacted politics, shaken up journalism, and enabled millions of people to have a voice and connect with others.

The Role of Robotics in Technology Education

As we begin to plan for our first technology education robotic workshop on October 15th I am interested in what topics you would like to see addressed.
With the taking over of the Connecticut VEX competition on April 4th 2009 by the The Department of Education Office of Technology Education and the Connecticut Technology Education Association and hosted by CCSU this will give us the opportunity to add a culminating activity to a school based Robotic curriculum.

Many Connecticut schools are currently working with the REC curriculum developed by Intelitek and in the near future Autodesk will also be offering a robotic curriculum based on the VEX platform.
We will include information on these and other curriculum based resources during the workshop as well as information on the competition and robotics in general. Please feel free to share your ideas as to what else should be included in the workshop.
During the past two week I have been reviewing Perkins grants and I am pleased that many Connecticut schools are purchasing VEX materials to begin their robotics program. Perkins funds are a great way to fund a new robotics program.
